This sign, a silhouette of a narrow guage steam locomotive, epitomizes the village of Chama as it is best known for being the western terminus of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. The entire town bases most of its economy on the tourist traffic generated by this excursion railroad that crisscrosses the Colorado/New Mexico border seven times before reaching its destination in Antonito, Colorado.
