The Aptos Creek Fire Road is the main access to the
Forest of Nisene Marks State Park. The dirt fire road meanders along the creek, making crossings on one lane wooden bridges and even a
bailey bridge at one point. A gate closes the fire road to further public car traffic at the Porter Family Picnic Area. This gate can probably be opened to allow park ranger vehicles access to the deeper section of the park.
At this juncture a narrow bridge is present to enable pedestrian and bicycle traffic to cross, but the bridge is too small and narrow for car/truck passage. Parallel to the small bridge, one can see tire tracks leading down the sloping bank to the creek and back out the other side where vehicles must drive through the creek to cross it.
