On Boston's Deer Island, on the southern tip, is a binocular station where you feel right out there with the harbor and the open Atlantic Ocean. And you are.
The binoculars are located at a sharp point at the extreme southern end of the peninsula, which, at one time was separate from land. The point is part of the park, which is part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Park and Recreational Area. You can access the park either by car via Winthrop (get a map to understand how to get there), or by passenger ferry.
The station has quite a view. Behind (north) is Deer Island Sewage Treatment Facility. To the east is the Atlantic Ocean, where you can see the Graves and the grey form of Graves Lighthouse. To the southeast are the Brewster Islands and Boston Lighthouse. To the south and southwest are the Inner Harbor Islands. To the west, further away, is the Boston skyline.
