Ellendale is a Designated Rest Area at the 2,436 Km mark on the Great Northern Highway, 125 Km southeast of the Derby turnoff and 88 Km west of Fitzroy Crossing.

The given coordinates are for the turnoff from the highway, the 90 metres wide by 60 metre deep camp area is set into the side of a small hill and extends from about 90 metres from the roadway. There is room for several dozen caravans, campervans, motor homes and tents.

Facilities include clean and well-maintained long drop toilets (less than 2 years old as at June 2012), four picnic tables each with a shelter, fireplaces and rubbish bins.

Number of tent spaces: Four or more

Access to Campsite: By car, truck, bus - large rig accessable with care, have seen bicycle hikers camped here too.

Special Features:
A well spaced location for taking a break on a very long highway.
