This monument and bridge was dedicated in early 2012 to honor Sergeant Joseph M. Garrison, a native of the Redbank Valley, was killed in action on June 6, 2011, while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in Helmand Province. At age 27, he was assigned to the Second Battalion, Eighth Marine Regiment, Second Marine Division, II of the Marine Expeditionary Force.
Thanks to many, this monument and the naming of the highway bridge in his memory has made the reflection of this small town native possible.
