Wat Sam Kaew is a major Buddhist temple in the city of Chumphon. It was built in the early 20th century. According to Buddhist belief the name of the temple derives from a legend of three gems which flew in the sky in the distant past. The temple lies to the north of the city. There are a number of attractively designed and maintained buildings, however, when I visited (a week day), the temple was closed with no sign of inhabitants.

Waymark made at main road entrance. Entry to the wat is unrestricted. The temple is within walking distance of the city, or a tuk tuk.
