This high lonely chimney was once part of the Monastery of Bernardas, in Tavira. This monastery was part of the Order of Cister, and it became gradually a ruin, after it has been shut down in 1862. Recently the structure was renovated and transformed in a residential building, a project signed by the well known Architect Eduardo Souto Moura.
