The names of Santa Barbara, California's sister cities are etched in flagstone tiles around a
compass rose.
The distances in miles and kilometers are also listed under each city. There are seven cities names on the flagstones. Two different websites had lists of Santa Barbara's sister cities and neither was in agreement with the names on the stones. Wikipedia lists six sister cities. The Santa Barbara government website lists seven sister cities. I assume situations have changed since the stones were laid.
Four city names from the stones were common on both websites. Those are:
Toba, Japan (1966)
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (1972)
Weihai, China (1993)
Dingle, Ireland (2003)
Other cities listed on the stones are:
Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Cuzco, Peru
Yalta, Ukraine
An apparent new city in the program is :
San Juan Phillipines (2000)
The two newest cities in the program:
Kotor, Montenegro (2009)
Patras, Greece (2010)
