The cornerstone on the building indicates this lodge traces its history to 1837. To put that in perspective, the Alabama Capitol was still in Tuscaloosa and Elmore County had not yet been created. I was not able to find any historical information about the lodge.
Wetumpka is located northeast of Montgomery, which has been the State Capitol since 1846.
