“ExCeL opened in 2001 as an international conference and exhibition centre in London’s Docklands, and was expanded in 2010. Experienced at staging major events, it is ideally placed to host the biggest cluster of Olympic and Paralympic events outside of the Olympic Park.”
“No construction was required to create ExCeL’s five arenas for London 2012.”
“Several test events were held at the venue in 2011 to ensure the venue was ready to stage the Games.”
Weightlifting, Boxing, Judo, Table Tennis, Wrestling, Taekwondo and Fencing were the Olympic events.
Boccia, Table Tennis, Judo, Powerlifting, Wheelchair Fencing and Sitting Volleyball were the Paralympic events.
“After the Games, ExCeL will revert to its role as one of Europe’s largest and most versatile exhibition spaces.”

HERE, well worth a look.
On Sunday 5th August, I was fortunate enough to get tickets for the Olympic Fencing here (Arena South 1) with my wife and niece and had a fantastic time. A very early start though which my niece did not appreciate at all.
For the Paralympics I also have tickets for the Boccia on Sunday 2nd September at the ExCel, preceded by Wheelchair Basketball at the North Greenwich Arena. How will we travel between the venues, they are on opposite side of the River Thames? The cable car of course, it will be a great day.
Well done London, we are proud to say we live here again!!!
