With artificial lighting and a maintained walking trail this is one of two caves in the area open to the public, and is a popular week-end destination for the surrounding communities.

The first part of this cave was discovered in 1517 and the second part was discovered in 1920. The cave was visited by the Elector, Friedrich I of Württemberg in 1803 which increased the public's interest in visiting the cave.
The cave is 380 m long and contains many of the classic cave formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and frozen waterfalls. There are several large chambers, and although the cave appears to have suffered the effects of public access, such as mining of formations, soot from the former use of torches, and the growth of green algea and plants as a result of the lighting, it is still worth visiting.
The tour is "self guided" but apart from a recording in German over the loudspeaker in the first chamber, you won't find any interpretive signs along the way.
There is a restaurant, snack bar, and toilet facilities near the cave entrance.
