Originally erected in 1923 between the two World Wars to commemmorate the fallen in World War I, the associated lower fences were removed as part of the reclamation drive to supply metal to the factories during World War II, they were later replaced and the gates have recently been renovated and repainted.
The park contains a small play area, the local community hall & a few picnic tables. Mostley used by walkers and dog-walkers (strict pooper-scooper rules) and for children's sports training at weekends.
