The Lawrence Hall of Science is UC Berkeley's public science center. They have been providing parents, kids, and educators with opportunities to engage with science since 1968.

The mission Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS) is to inspire and foster learning of science and mathematics for all, especially those who have limited access to science. The LHS is located in the Berkeley Hills above the University of California at Berkeley campus

Some of the permanent exhibits on display are:

  • A larger-than-life DNA sculpture on the LHS plaza
  • Pheena the Fin Whale – a life sized model of a Fin whale residing on the LHS plaza
  • Forces That Shape the Bay - outdoor science park, which explores the seismological forces that created and still aran fect the entire San Francisco Bay area.
  • Science on a Sphere – interactive globe displaying real scientific data from Earth
  • Sunstones – a 18 foot granite astronomical sculpture
  • nanoZone – an exhibit examining the field of nanotechnology.
  • KidsLab – a multi-sensory play area for children in kindergarten and younger
  • The Animal Discovery Room – where children learn with live animals
  • Math Around the World – an exhibit featuring math games played around the world
  • A seismograph connected to UC Berkeley’s Seismographic Station
  • Idea Lab – offering visitors guided discovery activities
  • Cyclotron Magnet – outdoors, a large magnet from the original cyclotron accelerator
  • The Memorial Room – devoted to the life and research of Ernest O. Lawrence

The LHS is a Blue Star Museum.

One of the current 2012 exhibits appealing to youngsters is Tony Hawk Rad Science, a large exhibit on the main floor devoted to the science of skateboards.
