Long Description:"Since the site was acquired in 2010 with grant assistance from Adams County Open Space, plans have been underway to make this 8.16-acre the property - once an active commercial mushroom-growing facility - available and enjoyable for public uses such as walking, running, bicycling, birdwatching and more.
The rehabilitation work started in February 2012, and included redistributing over 16,000 cubic yards of soil to create more natural-appearing hills; adding trails, signage and a small trailhead parking area; and revegetating the site with native grasses. The city worked hard to secure additional grant funding from Adams County Open Space to make this restoration project possible. We're excited to announce rehabilitation of this 8.16-acre site adjacent to Mushroom Pond Open Space is complete.
Temporary irrigation is in place assist in establishment of native grasses through the summer of 2012, and will be removed at the end of the growing season." (from (
