The Virginia Oak tree was dedicated by Fresno Mayor Ted C. Wills on July 4th 1976 during the Bicentennial celebrations in Fresno. This tree might be all that remains from Fresno's Bicentennial Celebration. Located at the Southwest corner of Courthouse Park. The simple plaque reads

"Bicentennial Oak
Dedicated July 4, 1976
In Observance of the 200th
Birthday of Our Nation.
