"Left from Eloise on a concrete road to Cypress Gardens (adm. 35 cents), 4m., bordering Lake Eloise. Formerly a wild swamp, the gardens contain native and exotic planting, shaded by huge cypress and oaks, and pierced by quiet log-spanned lagoons. Winding foot trails, paved with pecky-cypress blocks, are marked, as are the majority of plants. Massed banks of gardenias, azaleas, and camellias bloom during the spring. A Gardenia Festival is held here annually during April. Flowers, photographs, and cypress novelties are displayed for sale at the clubhouse. --- Florida: Guide to the Southernmost State

There is still a lovely portion (mainly the botanical section) of Cypress Gardens that has been preserved by the LEGOLAND theme park. There is a significant admission price if you only wanted to see Cypress Gardens, but LEGOLAND is well worth the fee.
