The 145th has shifted from F-86 fighters in the late 1950's to heavy airlift, C 130 Hercules, but this static display shows their history. The display was mounted between 2007 and 2009 based on dated Google Earth pictures of the location. There is no mention that I could find on the official website.
This version of the F-86 lacks the distinctive aggressive nose of the earlier models. I recognized the overall size and configuration as an F-86 but the air intake has been modified to put something in the nose, probably radar.
The base is closed to the public. The security guard discouraged taking pictures of the sign out on the road but pictures of the airplane from outside were ok.
