The museum is located in the baroque palace Branca-Baccalà in the historic center of Brissago. It has three rooms in the southeast of the building.
The museum is dedicated to the life and work of the famous Italian opera composer Ruggero Leoncavallo (1857 - 1919) who lived in Brissago for many years.
The museum was fouded in 2002 by the Fondazione Ruggero Leoncavallo, supported by private sponsors and the municipality of Brissago.
