This memorial, erected sometime after the original Confederate Memorial to was moved downtown in 1906, reads:

OUR CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS
FROM ARK., TEX., LA., MO., AND
INDIAN TERRITORY,
WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE
BATTLES OF OAK HILL, ELK HORN,
AND PRAIRIE GROVE.
