Mt. Sugarloaf is composed of a sandstone rock called Sugarloaf Arkose, is a fine example of the type of geology of the Connecticut River Valley. The south summit can be reached by the The Pocumtuck Ridge Trail or by a state maintained auto road. The summit area features a pavilion for picnicking and a lookout tower from which there are views of the Connecticut River Valley.
Near the steps leading up to the lookout tower is an an elevation sign with a picture of the lookout tower. It reads
MT. SUGARLOAF
Elevation
652 ft.
At this point my GPS recorded an elevation of 207 meters (I prefer metric values with my GPSR)
207 meters x 3.281 feet/meter = 679 feet

Posted Elevation: 652 feet
