This is a simple single slab of local slate across one of the many small streams in Cartmel. This stream has been culverted to allow horse racing to continue.

The slate slab reads "Presented by Cartmel Steeplechases in July 1984" There is date on the culvert of 1832. During race meets the road down steam would be closed as the horses need to thunder past. This stone slab would be only way to cross the stream.
