A large millstone in a wrought iron base located in front of city hall in downtown Kingston, Ontario.
Pre-1996 the millstone also included a horizontal dial approximately 18 inches in diameter. The sundial was made of iron with a solid triangular gnomon cast raised lettering, sun face, sea symbol. Hours marked by raised lines only. 7AM-5PM. On a small white plaque at the north of the dial were the words "Man eats his bread and records the hour; but the mills of the gods grind eternal flour." Very appropriate considering the dial rested on an old millstone. In raised letters around the dial were "Bread to Live", "Time to Think", "Reach for the Sun"
