Johann Nicholas Hower was born February 6, 1751 in Albany Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. During the Revolutionary War he served as a lieutenant in Krause's company in the 3rd Pennsylvania Battalion. Some sources indicate a death date of February 14, 1829 and others indicate February 14, 1824. His gravestone indicates the 1829 date.
