The granite drinking fountain was unveiled in April 1879 to
the memory of Robert Trotter. On the semi-circular front face the following
biblical quotation is inscribed:
"Whosoever drinketh from this water shall
thirst again
But whosoever drinketh of the water that
I shall give him
shall never thirst"

several source but none exactly match the inscription but are
