Long Description:
San Nicolas Church backs onto Plaza Santa Catalina Thomas on Carrer Jaume III a block east from Born Passage. High on an east facing corner is a large 160 x 160 cm sundial. This vertical sundial faces east declining south about 20°. Note the polar axis gnomon almost parallel to the wall. This is a morning sundial. The fresco painting is faded and effaced by efflorescence but the lines and numbers can still be seen. The dial was painted about 1750.

Santa Catalina Thomas is the patron saint of Mallorca. Her shrine is her birthplace in Valldemossa. See WMF0Y9
