In East Providence, and at the point where RI State Route 114/1A crosses the Tenmile River, is a reinforced concrete bridge that has a dated ceramic tile that states the following:

"Henry M Soule
Contractor
Pawtucket, R.I.
1931"

The tile is located on the north end of the east side of the bridge, near a river gauge station. At the south end of the east side of the bridge is another tile with the following text:

"Coles
Bridge
134"

I assume the number is the bridge number.

Bridgefinder.com did not have much on this bridge, listed as Tenmile River Bridge (Concrete arch bridge over Ten Mile River on US 1A). It did state that the bridge was built in 1921, but was rehabilitated in 1931. Thus, while the brige had an earlier date, the modifications must have been significant, and, thus, the tiles reflect the later date.

Safe parking is at a playground/ballfield about a quarter mile south.
