Quick Description: The Sun and Southport, not heard in the same sentence very often! This one always "shines" though, 24/7. You'll find it at the Pier Promenade.

Long Description:
Stuck on top of a pole, the Sun, the centre of our solar system.
In the mid nineties someone decided Southport needed a facelift. The Pier entrance and Promenade were rather run down and in a sorry state.
The answer, stick some statues on poles celebrating Southports history and coastal heritage.
You will aso find a shrimp, a one legged diver, a diver on a cycle, a seagull and of course the “Sun”
To be fair it was only phase 1 of the restoration work.
It now boasts an impressive bridge and retail area among many other improvements.
Not easy to find any info about the "SUN" at Southport so I'm linking you to the closest I could find.
