In East Providence, at a bridge is a river gauge and staff gauge that measures parameters on the Ten Mile River.

The gauge is located on the east side of the north end of a bridge that carries Route 114/Pawutcket Avenue over the river. There is a playground about a quarter mile south where there is a parking lot.

At the location are several measuring devices. There is a simple staff gauge there on the corner of the bridge pier. The stream gauge and staff height are reported daily on the USGS web site (link included below). The record goes back to 10/1/1986, which is a relatively short timespan. A pipe carries the wires to the cement shed with an antennae sprouting over the top. I did not see any text on the shed indicating any ownership information. The web site states that it is maintained by the RI Department of Environmental Management.

The gauge location measures at where there is 53.1 square miles of drainage area of the river, with terrain that is relatively flat. The Ten Mile River starts roughly in Plainville, Mass., and it empties into Narragansett Bay not far downstream. The river is 2-3 ft deep, on average. Nearby is the site of Hunt's Mills which used the water for waterpower.
RIVER GAUGE INFORMATION:
Nothing was found on the shed.
