This church represents the northern most stop of the underground railroad. Between 1830 and 1850 some 24 families who fled slavery in the United States were settled in the Oro Twp. area of Simcoe County, Ontario. In 1849 they acquired this property and built the church and established a burying ground. The church has been in active use to this day.
