Tony was cowboy silent movie star, Tom Mix's horse, and was immensely popular in his own right in the 1920's. During that time he was considered the most popular and recognizable horse in the world, and received his own flood of fan letters. Injured in the early 1930's while making a film with Mix, he was retired and out lived Mix. In 1942, 42 yeas old and unable to eat, he was humanely put down on October 12, the second anniversary of Mix's death.

This a life size fiberglass horse is the the exact image of Tony. an interesting fact is that Tom Mix was not a particularly big man, so to appear larger than he was, he always wore his huge 10 gallon hat. But the need to appear larger than life extended to his horse, thus Tony was smaller than the average sized horse to make Mix look bigger.

An interesting article about Tony can be found at the Find A Grave website which was the source for some of the above information. Link
