Long Description:
As you reach the top of the steps of the Acropolis at Lindos you will enter into the ruins of the Temple of Athena. The temple is built on a rectangular terrace overloking St. Paul's Bay. It was built about 300 BCE on the site of an earlier temple. It was dedicated to Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom. The temple is 75' long by 25' wide. There are four Doric columns at each end. On one side two columns are freestanding and the other side has three freestanding columns. Each column is about 20' high. The columns of the temple are built of poros stone.
