The sculpture in the centre of this small mining village, Called 'Coal Face' is a monuments placed to honour coal miners, and shows the faces of former local miners chosen by the artist, Malcolm Robertson.

The phrase, "Out of the darkness, let there be light" comes to mind, As the Coal Miners, dedicated their lives working in the darkness, for the benefit of the the Nation.
