Olympic National Park is best known for the Olympic Mountain section. There is also a narrow section of the park Olympic Wilderness along the coast. From Forks, drive west towards the Quilleute Indian settlement, La Push. Park just before La Push to take the scenic walk 0.7 miles through the woods to Second Beach. This is a broad low energy sandy beach, a great exploration at low tide. The beach is isolated by headlands at both ends. Bothe headlands have natural aches but these are inaccessible and offer no way through. The most prominent arch is obvious as you come out of the woods and walk to the right along the beach. We were there at a moderate low tide and the sea surged through the bottom of the arch.
The GPS position is from the viewpoint as the arch is inaccessible. The low clouds and fog added to the west coast experience.
Photo of the Arch by itself?: yes
Type of Arch: Coastline
Type of Material: Volcanic rock, perhaps metamorphosed shale
