Hole-in-the-Wall is a prominant natural arch on Rialto Beach, Olympic National Park. At low to moderate tide it offers a way through the headland. Otherwise it is a stiff climb up and over to continue the hike.

Olympic National Park is best known for the Olympic Mountain section. There is also a narrow section of the park Olympic Wilderness along the coast. From Forks, drive west towards the Quilleute Indian settlement, La Push. But take the left branch, the Mora road to the outlet of the Quilleute River and Rialto Beach. A major wilderness beach backpacking route starts here and comes out at Ozette. This route is mostly along the beach but clambers over numerous headlands. An easy half day hike is to the first headland where Hole-in-the Wall is designated on the park map and trail descriptions. It is 1.63 or 2.6 km north of the Rialto Beach trailhead. We arrived when the tide was rising making access from the south a difficult scramble. We went over the headland and approached from the north for close up views.
The low hanging clouds and fog added to the west coast experience.
