The sign is secured on decorative ironwork, which in itself is unique amongst the modern hubbub of everyday shops.
On the sign are the shop's initials in a bold AR for Austin Reed. Beneath this is a great symbol in a golden colour of a man using a plough; this is a reflection to the past purpose of the shop as it was known as The Plough Inn, which is stated beneath it.
Austin Reed is a British fashion retailer which was founded in 1900. It is a menswear shop. The shop lies at No. 38 Cornmarket Street and is one of a few remaining, historic buildings in this area of the city and is Grade II Listed. The Plough Inn was built in the 17th century but was rebuilt after this era. In 1924 the shop front was added to meet the style of the other modern shops.
