Venus is the 2nd planet froom the sun and one of those nearest earth. It is also recognized as the first star of evening as it is one of the brightest. Venus was a mythologic goddess of the early Romans and Greeks.

The Soviet Union sent the first of two space probes to Venus in 1975. America sent Magellan probes in the 1980s and early 1990s.
It was determined that much of Venus was volcanic lava.
Venus spins in couonter direction to most other planets.
