Long Description:
This U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey triangulation station (designated TOWNSEND RESET) is placed in Allegany State Park, near the Summit Fire Tower.
The station is set in a 10 x 10 square concrete monument, that is approximately 6 inches above the level of the ground. The mark is in excellent condition and stamped with the date: 1935.
Within 60-70 of this mark are two reference marks, whose coordinates are as follows:
- Reference mark #1: N 42 07.562, W 078 42.010
- Reference mark #2: N 42 07.572, W 078 42.033
Also according to the NGS, there is an azimuth mark, however at this time, it has not been searched for.
