Long Description:An unusual setting for a library... The octagonal building, painted a soft pink, was constructed in 1797 as the city jail. (
waymark) After hundred years of use as a jail, it was converted in 1879 to a library, reading room and museum. Per the library website (link below), it has a 28,000-volume collection stored in the various cells.
