Collingwood has had a twin city relationship with Katano, Japan since 1981. The Friendship Gardens, commemorating this relationship, is located just north of the Police/Fire station on Minnesota Street.

It is beautifully landscaped and well maintained. There are 2 gazebos and many benches to sit and enjoy the ambience. You can expect many of the features that define a japanese garden - foot bridge over water, dry river of gravel, wooden walking planks, japanese stone lantern, etc.
