The pub, the 'Adam & Eve', has a sign that shows a young couple, obviously Adam and Eve with the biblical apple with a bite of flesh missing from it. In an area such as this that had strong ties to shipping and the Surrey Docks this does seem like a strange name for a pub. But, the 'Mayflower' set sail from a point close by so although the folk were hard working they were probably go-fearing as well and the brewery cached in on that.
