The 2012 Olympics are being held in London and sculptures are appearing all over town. This one shows a javelin and, rather cleverly, shows it landing from the direction of the Olympic Park some 5 km away, to the NNE, in Stratford.

The javelin is seven metres in length and is tilted towards the Olympic Park in Stratford. The paved are is shown as having exploded upwards with the javelin's impact. The Southwark Council Planning Application website (visit link) contains a document describing the javelin and the materials it is constructed from.
