The Hippodrome Casino building covers a large area with streets running along its four sides. On Newport Street, above one of the street level shops, Cafe Rouge, is a pair of mosaics. There appears to be reason for the mosaic to be there other than to add a bit of Victorian embellishment.

The mosaics are tall, about two metres and about a half metre wide. The background is formed from green mosaic, glazed pieces with ref tile pieces forming the border of the inner design. The inner design has a further background of gold/yellow pieces. The lower half of the pattern is showing leaves climbing upwards and interlacing with each other. They continue into the lower part of an oval shape. Here a crown sits in the central area extending towards the top of the oval. The mosaic pieces in the crown are a variety of colours and shapes - see photos.
