A half-million dollar FEDERAL BUILDING and POST OFFICE of
white marble, south of the county courthouse in the public square, was dedicated in 1941. [Oklahoma - A Guide to the Sooner State, 1941]
The Enid post office is located at 115 W. Broadway, just south of the Garfield County Courthouse in this city of about 47,500 citizens. Enid is the 8th largest city in Oklahoma. Enid is called "Queen Wheat City" and the "Wheat Capitol of Oklahoma and the United States" due to its extensive grain storage capacity - the 3rd largest in the world.
This massive building is a three-story stone building, constructed of buff-colored blocks. It faces north with windows symmetrically placed. Above the main entrance, floors two and three have vertical window columns, which are recessed. A stone beltcourse wraps around the building between the first and second floors. The building is still in use as a post office today.
