This small Island cemetery began in 1901 with the internment of Ann Emma Brainerd. Ann had purchased the small plot of land in 1900 but died in 1901 from tetanus. Her parents buried the ten year old on her land, later purchasing the surrounding property and donating it to the residents as a cemetery.
Many of the early settlers of Captiva are buried here. There are approximately 122 graves located in the cemetery.
