There are dozens of these silos across the Shoalhaven, many in poor condition, a few maintained by their owners, others converted into accommodation, one into a restaruant.

I learnt their history several years ago when I attended the wake of a neighbour who lived to a good age. He & his father built the majority of these silos in the 1920s & 30s. They were designed to hold corn which was the principal winter feed for the many dairy herds in the district.

This one is beside Bryces Road in the locality of Back Forest, not far from Berry. You can pull off the road at the gate.
