This bridge forms part of a railway viaduct carrying trains from Waterloo East to and from Charing Cross. The stations are separated by the River Thames that is spanned by Hungerford Bridge.

Most of the arches have been turned into retail units with large glass windows at each end. This arch has been left open and is used by pedestrian traffic as a foot tunnel. The arch is located opposite the main entrance to Waterloo station and is used by commuters heading to and from the station to the bus stands opposite. The inside walls of the arch have some mosaic panels showing various aspects of London. The arch is constructed from brick.
