The pink granite of the memorial helps it stand out from the green of the surrounding courthouse lawn. The memorial has three separate but linked elements. Two taller flanking elements have a list wars and the names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. There is also a list of those died while in the service but not during wartime. A smaller center element has the name of the committee members responsible for this memorial that was dedicated on Memorial day in 1988.
