This marker defines the location of the Fourth Meridian used to define the township system and, in 1905, the boundary between Alberta and Saskatchewan. The crossing is located east of the Village of Walsh, Alberta.

This highway crossing of the Alberta-Saskatchewan border is on Highway 1, the Trans Canada highway which crosses the country from Victoria, British Columbia to Port aux Basques – St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador a distance of 8,030 kilometres.
