The Alfred Town Hall was built in 1862 replacing an earlier town hall which was destroyed in a village fire. The two story woodframe building is in a Greek Revival style.
Alfred is now a community of about 3,000 and is the county seat for York County. The town previously had been part of Sanford and was known as the North Parish of Sanford. The county was once the site of a Shaker settlement. The community has many historic buildings including its town hall.
