The Montfort Missionaries have established a shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes in the northeast part of Connecticut. The area includes an outdoor altar modeled after the Shrine to Our Lady of Lourdes in France. A grotto has been constructed in the hillside that contains a statue of the Blessed Virgin above and an altar at ground level. Votive candles surround the altar and a statue of Bernadette is shown looking up from an area between the altar and the public seating.
The shrine is was erected by the Monfort Missionaries, who were founded by St. Louis de Montfort, as a place of prayer and meditation. Masses are held at the Grotto daily (except Monday) at 11:30 am May To October. The grounds are open to the public daily from sunrise to sunset.
